When I first came to see Dr. Burval I was in severe pain that radiated from my left hip to my foot. I was unable to get relief from therapy or medications. Dr. Burval reviewed my MRI and recommended a microdiscectomy. After the procedure, I had considerable pain relief after the initial postoperative pain and swelling were resolved. At six weeks out am nearly pain free. Staff has been helpful and professional. Thank you!

When you hear back surgery, your reaction is the worst thought you can imagine. It's not like I didnt know that this was where I was heading but I was.l prayed for the lord to heal me, but closer to the time that didnt happen but then it did. The lord sent one of his best to perform my surgery. I would tell everyone that I would allow Dr. Burval to operate on my brain if he would. All of his staff were wonderful and compassionate caring people and Dr Burval is heaven sent I love them all. My surgery took place on Nov 10th 2016 I have never felt so good and walking around I have to remind myself to be careful. I can not accurately tell you just how awesome the surgeon was in this case. He took time to qualify me. He explained to me the risks and benefits of the surgery. He took a ton of time after the surgery explaining my post-op care to my wife, while being sure to let her know what issues we may encounter. He was patient and you could tell that he really cared. He knows what he's doing. I had faith before the surgery that this was true and one week afterward, I know it to be true. So glad we chose Dr. Burval.

NEVER MAKE SURGERY Your 1st option. I was diagnosed with lumbar spinal stenosis. Dr. Burval felt surgery was too high risk recommended I try injections and non-operative treatment. I received an injection in the nerve that was causing sciatic pain down the leg and was given medication. This stopped the pain down the leg however I still had back pain. The doctor recommended I do water therapy. I took water therapy that included table and floor exercises along with a tredmill in the water pool. After two and a half months of therapy along with the pain management clinic I am happy to say I am pain free and off pain medication. After receiving a shot directly in the sleeve of the nerve in my back I have not experienced any back pain. It is important to continue exercises to not let arthritis set up in your body so I continue to go to the ymca 2 to 3 times each week. Surgery should be your last option to recover from pain. Keep moving.

I cannot fully comprehend nor express my gratitude and relief. I came in with a massive lumbar disc herniation, and cauda equina syndrome. I was in so much pain that I had lost the will to continue living. I had lost all hope. After one consultation and an MRI the decision was made that I needed surgery immediately. Best. Decision. Ever. I was terrified of having back surgery. I had always heard all of the horror stories. The relief was almost immediate. Six weeks later and I'm still impressed. I can't say enough about Dr.Burval, Dr. Fogolin and the entire support staff. If I had another problem like this in the future, I wouldn't seek treatment anywhere else. The whole experience has really been life-changing.

Was very worried when I found out I had a ruptured disc in my neck that I would need surgery but Dr Burval eased my fears. Telling me that surgery isn't always necessary. After just a couple PT sessions the pain had eased. I still need more PT but I am doing much much better. Dr Burval was very kind and thorough explaining that he doesn't rush into surgery. I very much appreciated his approach and his reassurances.

Came to Dr. Burval for disc bulge in lower back. He was very conservative in his approach, which I appreciated, because I didn't want surgery. We tried everything, from medication, physical therapy, spinal shots, unfortunately nothing worked. I ended up having a microdisectomy. The procedure went well, Dr. Burval explained everything to me, in detail, and I was very confident in his skills. The staff was very helpful and the surgery staff had excellent bedside manners.
